GROUND CALCIUM CARBONATE (GCC) / LIMESTONE

Chemical Formula: CaCO3

Limestone is a sedimentary rock, most of which originally formed by the accumulation of sediments on the sea floor (although some formed in fresh water). These sediments, which were afterwards turned to limestone rock that contains at least 50% calcium carbonate in the form of calcite by weight. There are three main components in limestone:

• calcite and aragonite
• dolomite
• impurities such as sand grains, silt, mud, etc.

Limestone is used in Agriculture, Construction, Iron and Steel, Water and Wastewater Treatment. Ground Calcium Carbonate (GCC) or Ground Limestone is used as a filler in paper, paint, rubber, and plastics, Adhesives & Sealants, Animal and Pet Feeds, Construction, Glass and Ceramics
